Longhoughton Goods Yard

What is being done? - Regular working parties are taking place here with the aim of tidying up the site, and laying sidings, preparing it in readyness for the arrival of more rolling stock and equipment. We are also undertaking restoration work on the rolling stock currently on-site which includes a rail crane; a HPA ballast wagon; a Mk 1 BSK (all on long term loan from Northumbria Rail Limited); a Ruston 48DS shunter; a Ruston 165DE shunter; a Permaquip self propelled trolley; and a Matisa trolley (both on long term loan from the OTPPG).
Volunteers are welcome to either help prepare the actual site, or to undertake restoration work on the vehicles and items stored on site.

IMPORTANT - As the site is adjacent to the East Coast Main Line there are stringent safety requirements, as such please do not venture onto the site without first contacting one of our Appointed Persons.

Appointed Persons: - Barry Shell (01670 823638), Dave Shell (07858 799261), Tom Spence.
