Directions and accessibility:

Follow the A1068 to the roundabout (good pub on right) take the rough road down to Chevington Moor/eshot - This will take you straight past the entrance. If you approach a member of UK Coal staff on a weekend they will normally let you on site to take pictures - A Hi-Viz vest is recommended. From Tyne Yard, take A1 Northbound heading towards Morpeth. At Roundabout with A19, bear right onto the A19 for approx 2 miles, then at the third roundabout bear left onto the A189. Follow the A189 Northbound about 10 miles to the end, where at a further roundabout it meets the A1068. Continue Northwards on the A1068 for about 5 miles, and at the second roundabout, bear left towards Stobswood. Widdrington site is approx 3/4 mile along this road. I strongly recommend consulting a map book before setting off. The locos can be viewed from this road, on the left hand (Southern) side. UK Coal do not officially allow visits to their sites without prior permission, however stock can normally be seen from this road. There is usually a security guard present at this site. Please also be aware of large plant vehicles moving from the DP to the nearby Opencast sites.
